We were captivated by Truth, the new release from Francis Alban Blake. His Indie Folk guitar playing is paired elegantly with his soft smoky vocal. The vibe is reminiscent to Ben Howard with an arrangement and instrumentation that also recalls the early stripped down works of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens. The artists mesmerizing vocals drew us in and gave us something to hold on to, which is Francis Alban Blakes goal.
We loved the calm and simple yet emotional sound and feeling that was captured in Truth. The story behind this artist is quite sad. This release has been offered posthumous. Francis Alban Blake went missing in 2018, and through much digging into his personal diary, it was found he left willingly. He left in his will that he wanted certain songs published, which were granted. In 2022 he was found dead. We are now left with his thoughts and feelings embodied in his music. Francis has left us with his beautiful work of art and we hope many will listen.
