Kelsey Kindall embraces her infectious side on her new single Sleepwalking. Kindall might have her eyes closed but this vibe is anything but sleepy. Its a dance ready groove with melancholy contrast. There’s some new wave synth pop influence to compliment her indie pop instincts. In that way Kindall offers a proper crossover between the underground and mainstream pop.

Elk Darling is a gloomy devil, but we wouldn’t call him sad. Their new single Pixie Dust has some soulful sad emotion to balance their synth pop production influence. We hear hints of Bon Iver in the production style, with an inclination towards MGMT’s cosmic wonder. Its a dynamic blend, akin to unassuming influences like Townes Van Zandt.

Summertime Depression is catching on. The new single from Alex Bonyata is a catchy sentimental gem with memorable relatable lyrics. Bonyata employs an addictive percussive vocal style beneath a backdrop of atmospheric indie pop. They find the middle ground between dreamy and assertive, like a softer Petey. We love that vibe.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Electric Phantoms version of the Radiohead classic Nice Dream. Its absolutely one of Radiohead’s iconic samples, which makes the task of reimagining it that much more intimidating. Electric Phantoms lays a slam dunk in how they adapt it into a dreamy psych pop anthem. Its pure and equally addictive as the original, but refreshingly revived.
