The call themselves King Black Acid and their new single Never Let ‘Em Touch Your Weed is appropriately intense and surprisingly catchy. They find the middle ground between King Gizzard and The Black Keys. King Black Acid is a collective of musicians arranged and orchestrated by founding member Daniel Riddle. Daniel’s projects have toured and shared stages with Elliott Smith, Nirvana, Low, Moby, Sonic Youth, The Dandy Warhols, Faith No More, & more! Case and point, Daniel is a true OG. Better late than never!

Albert Hertz and Soho Rezanejad teamed up for their new single The Clown. The first singers rare hazy timbre lands refreshingly exotic. The musics rare tonal construction amplifies the works textured tickle. Altogether The Clown is a thoughtful work bred from vulnerability and a obscure creative aesthetic. It should connect with fans of abstract projects like Dirty Projectors and Mitski.

goodkitty, the project of Chicagoland-based songwriter, producer, and musician Katie Colt, returns with new single, The Right Kind. The Right Kind is the first release from goodkitty’s upcoming full-length album, due in early 2027. Its a vibrant catchy dirty indie rock moment for the emerging artist. A distortion tinged vocal design honors Colt’s inherited disdain on this inspired release. Stylistically we think it will connect with fans of Kathleen Edwards and The New Pornographers.

Marianne Engebretsen caught our attention with her new single Someone To Hold On To. The songs inviting intro unfolds like a sweet coming of age novella, but when the drum drops Marianne evolves excitingly. Its an accelerated uptick that immediately pulls you out of your seat. Marianne’s rare higher register shouldn’t work within this medium, but its simply hypnotic. The drums untamed attack recalls an influence of David Gray while Marianne herself finds the middle ground between Swifty Pop and something more obscure. It’s a hit.

An interpretive dance awaits you once you tap in and tap out to Up All Night, the new single from Pastel Atlas. A blend of synth pop and retro inspiration blends convincingly on this impressive release. Stylistically we hear shades of The 1975, as if they were produced by Francis and The Lights. We likey.
