Jacob Brodovsky finds contrast in his new single Colorado Low. Seemingly simultaneously sad and uplifting Colorado Low seems beautifully sentimental despite its harsh truths. Its a testament to Jacob’s poetic imagery. He describes a nostalgic place you want to get back to, but the characters in this adventure are just trying to get out. Jacob dresses this novella in a vibe familiar to Dawes or Death Cab for Cutie. It just works.

We got lost in the dreamy escape that is Linen and Tears, the new single from Silver Firs. A glorious blend of new wave nostalgia and modern indie intellect, Silver Firs cites an influence of New Order era alternative without feeling derivative. Its a similar sentiment that we get when we dig into the band Nation of Language. Its retrofuturistic; imagining how that movement might evolve if it never ended.

The drums are the first thing that pull you into Wash, the new single from Belle Blue. The vocal, however, is its defining feature. The emotional brilliance and youthful yearning lands convincing. Clever melodic movements from the guitar and bass add to the harmonious texture. Its as if The National and Paramore collaborated on an album. It’s delicious.

Trevor deClercq and Kate McGill are doing something awesome with their project ELECTREKATED. We love their new song Promise Me. This gorgeous chill soul composition is brought to life by McGill’s lush emotive voice. A chill pop aesthetic with underground roots keeps it interesting. Stylistically its a sure thing for fans of Rhye or Charlotte Day Wilson. We love that style.
