We love what we hear in “Low,” the newest single by Claire Morales. This alt rock track starts with downtempo percussion and a gentle, simple, electric guitar. We love what we hear in “Low,” the newest single by Claire Morales. This alt rock track starts with downtempo percussion and a gentle, simple, electric guitar. Soon enter Morales’ flexible vocals which prove to be the centerpiece of the song. “Low” is incredibly well-paced, and it doesn’t rush its moments of relief: that short bridge arrives at just the perfect time. Overall, the song is a passionate demonstration of Morales’ artistic care. We think fans of artists like Angie McMahon will love it.

If we could use one word to describe “Novel Idea,” the title track on the newest album by The Response, we would choose motion. Complete with thudding percussion, spinning instrumental melodies, and grainy vocals, this indie rock song is one of those that sounds as if it’s moving around the speakers. It’s an example of exciting, musical sleight-of-hand. (And the chorus is pretty catchy too!) We think it fits well somewhere in a category with artists like Grizzly Bear and/or Beck. Be sure to check out the whole album now!

Check out this dynamic new indie rock track from Summer Bedhead: “Transform” boldly and meaningfully explores the interplay between noise and silence. In the song’s quiet moments, the singer delivers these great, jazzy vocal runs that remind us a little of Beth Gibbons from Portishead. In the loud moments, the band takes over and delivers a series of guitar-heavy sonic punches. The overall experience is one of shock and stimulation. We think fans of bands like Fontaines D.C. and NewDad will be really into it.

“Transform” is part of a full-length project called The Body Needs a Break, out now! Give it a listen.

Paper Fold,” the latest release by Sean Massaro, put us in an indietronica trance! This song’s unique, digital rhythm initiates the hypnotism and holds strong as a wide and spacey vocal arrangement cascades over an ambient soundscape. New elements, like instrumental solos, show up occasionally but never break the spell. It’s dreamy and consistent. We think it’s a sure thing for fans of The Postal Service and/or Washed Out.
