Check out “Long For Nothing (I Got You)” by Rooskin! This song is a grainy, indie-pop jam. Its reliable rhythm section leaves plenty of room for the flexible guitar arrangement and, most predominantly, memorable vocal parts to flourish. The harmonies are a little reminiscent of Lord Huron (which is an excellent thing). And, musically, we also hear some Cage the Elephant and Dire Straits influence.
We love what we hear in “Need to Go,” the new, R&B-inspired B-side by TomEE. This song is characterized by a tight drum track and some playfully soulful guitar and bass parts. What brings it all home for us are the vocal layers, which have D’Angelo’s influence all over them. We’d love it if the song was longer, but we appreciate how it ends with us wanting more. We’ll let that desire guide us in the direction of more music by TomEE.
“It’s Alright” is the classic new indie rock single by Problematic Jam. This song makes great use of some fool proof rock-and-roll techniques: aggressive guitars, upbeat drums, in-your-face vocals, and an overall urge to party. It makes for a killer weekend anthem.
