We can’t stop listening to Blackiebluebird’s new album, A Symphony of Shadows. The Copenhagen based band’s new record is a dreamy, psychedelic record with melodies that are sure to stick with you. The vocals, often lathered with echo and reverb, feel distinctly old school, with a timbre similar to classic pop singers like Dusty Springfield, as well as the more melancholic performances of artists like Lana Del Rey and Beth Gibbons of Portishead.
The instrumentals are slow, melodic and lofi, with an emphasis on soft, muffled guitar leads. Album highlights such as “Sorry Lives Here No More” and “Sometime Soon” feature slow yet infectious melodies that support the lead vocal and drums that often feel more washed out than the guitars. Fans of bands like TV Girl and Cigarettes After Sex will love this record.
