Fans of boygenius, Billie Eilish’s first record, and/or other music in that atmosphere will love this new single by Analise! “I’ve Never Smoked” is hazy, indie pop comfort for the broken-hearted. This one feels simultaneously wide and intimate, with atmospheric tones evoking the former and wispy vocal layers evoking the latter. We’re obsessed with the single-word, emotive refrain of “nothing,” and you will understand why after just one listen.

Check out this striking new single by Valued Customer! “Lightning” is an indietronica gift from the sky. This song is characterized by busy percussion, a fuzzy bass line, and aerodynamic vocals. Melodically, it brings U2 and Coldplay to mind. But the instrumental arrangement sounds more digital than what we’re used to from those bands.

P.S. Keep an eye/ear out for one booming outro!

Awolk just released a new EP called Wild Rose and “Someone” is one of our favorite songs on it! This bedroom-pop tune is anchored by impressively restrained percussion and it’s elevated by ambient tones. We love the breathless vocal delivery in, what we’ll call, the pre-chorus sections, and we appreciate the subsequent relief delivered in the refrains. Fans of artists like Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens should love this one.

Marilyn,” the newest release by Michael Cormier-O’Leary, is pure, indie folk imagination. The descending, acoustic guitar bass line immediately hooks us so that the soft vocal melodies may reel us in. Melodically, it takes some sophisticated, dissonant turns. And we recommend it for fans of Simon & Garfunkel.
