Now that’s what we call a debut! Honeyed is crashing onto the scene with the release of this new alt pop single. “wanted” starts minimally with ambient tones and layered vocals, but these limited elements establish a distinct, chill, melancholic mood. Drums enter at about the halfway point and guide the song toward a smashing outro. Fans of artists like Phoebe Bridgers and/or Imogen Heap should find plenty to love in this new song.
Anticipation for Oda, the forthcoming album by Daniela Andrade, grows with the release of “i see red.” Indie fans with an R&B sensibility will love this one. The rhythm section feels tight, the lead vocals sound intimate, and the choppy vocal accents in the chorus give the song a sultry, modern attitude. We recommend it for fans of The Marías and/or Frank Ocean.
Check out this proggy, new indie rock experiment by Human Potential! With its dissonant bass line and diverse collection of atmospheric noises, “The Sightseer” sounds quite unsettling to start. The song, however, finds brief peace when the vocals first enter. From that moment on, it’s a sonic grapple between chaos and order, bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. We think fans of Deerhunter and Real Estate will dig it.
There’s plenty to love about “Cold Weather,” the newest single by Cash O’Brien. But we, in particular, are obsessed with that guitar tone. Thick, warm, and just dirty enough, it’s the perfect centerpiece for this mellow, indie pop groover. It sounds somewhat reminiscent of the tone on Hozier’s first record, but O’Brien infuses it with a distinct R&B flair; when paired with his tender vocals, it brings artists like Dijon to mind.
