Indie Underrated – East Sister, Vilde, Eliza Noxon, FRANKIE FLOWERS

Bedroom pop fans will love this new single by East Sister. “Mixtape” is a moody lo-fi love letter. It opens with a glowing synth riff before receding into a grainy, downtempo hush. From here, it takes some off-kilter turns toward a series of hopeful choruses and, eventually, a seemingly-fortuitous piano solo. We recommend this one…

We recommend this one for fans of The Marías and Men I Trust!

We feel hypnotized by this low-key, new indie rock single by Vilde. “Austral” makes economic use of syncopated percussion and subtle, ambient melodic tones. This sonic backdrop is perfect for the octave-split vocal melodies in the foreground of the mix. We think fans of artists like Miike Snow, Westerman, and/or Helena Deland should love it.

What Else,” the newest single by Eliza Noxon, is an emotionally extravagant alternative banger. The acoustic guitar track at the center of the mix is straightforward; it lays a strong foundation for the full, wide rock arrangement that blooms in the choruses. We adore the vocal melodies, and we think fans of artists like Hop Along and Jenny Lewis will too.

P.S. Keep an eye/ear out for one very cool waltzy outro!

Fans of artists like Dominic Fike and/or Rainbow Kitten Surprise will love this new single by FRANKIE FLOWERS. “VELVET COLLAPSE” is driven by speedy, jangling guitars and a raw, crowded vocal arrangement. It resists percussion for its entire first half and we think this bold act of restraint makes it that much more unique. Overall, the song is an image of intimate, alt pop nostalgia.
