We hear a lot of praise in “B-Train,” the newest neo-soul single by Every Us. The subtle organ tones, clap-along rhythm, and crowded vocal arrangement are all evocative of a congregation and, therefore, gospel music. The resulting track is one that appropriately reaches toward something heavenly and employs a variety of classic and modern R&B techniques to do so (including a great bridge featuring an Impressions sample).
We think fans of Leon Bridges will love it!
It’s an indie rock Christmas! This new single by Bleak Streak is a festive and wondrous slow (but, actually, kinda fast) burn. The lyrics of “Sad Cute Punk Rock” don’t explicitly imply Christmas, but the rhythm and bell tones under the lofi production certainly indicate a holiday vibe.
We love how it builds to a climax, and we think fans of Guided by Voices will really like it.
Indie rock fans with a folk sensibility will love this new single by Arts Fishing Club. “Feed Me to the Wolves” is characterized by a complex-yet-restrained instrumental arrangement. The opening percussion sounds steady, like a rolling train. It builds to a breaking point, and when you think it’s about to pop it calms down. We love this kind of sonic misdirection, and we think fans of artists like Mt. Joy and Bon Iver will feel especially drawn to the instrumental arrangement. Arts Fishing Club has a vast and busy touring schedule ahead of them; if you dig the song, check to see if they’re coming to a venue near you!
