Check out this intimate new electro pop single by Jena Malone! Over minimalist percussion, “Create In Your Name” delivers simplistic vocal melodies through a digital filter in the style of 100 gecs. The progression of the song is hypnotic, and the atmospheric tones and percussive accents give sharp complexity to the conceptually straightforward arrangements.
We recommend it for fans of artists like Lily Allen.
Prize for the Future has a new EP out and the closing track, “A Boy,” is one of our favorite songs on it! This synthpop tune has that wide, glowing sound that has become a staple of the genre. What distinguishes it within its category, however, is its lyrical clarity. “A Boy” is a heartfelt and nuanced address from a speaker to someone who is lost. Listening, we can’t help but feel for the characters and hope their troubles are resolved. We think fans of Japanese Breakfast and similar artists will like it.
Fans of artists like Coldplay and/or U2 will love the title track from Alexander Wolfe’s newest EP, To Feel Love. This song starts spare with rich vocals and bright, finger-picked guitars. It even gives the impression of a singer-songwriter production at first, but then flourishes into something significantly more massive. Wolfe’s ability to shape the arc of a song is on full display here. Be sure to check out the entirety of the EP, now available on Spotify!
Jack Manley has been on fire lately! “FLC Punk” arrives as part of a recent string of singles and stands out as another bright image in this artist’s ever-evolving sonic tapestry. There’s something fresh-yet-familiar about this song. The grainy vocals and guitar-based arrangement bring The Strokes to mind, but Manley is wholly original in his ability to pair unique lyrics with catchy melodies. With “FLC Punk,” the Jack Manley hot streak continues!
