Fans of The Japanese House and girl in red will love this song by Andr! “FACES” is pure, alt pop intuition. Creatively, it goes in various directions while managing to never feel lost. It sounds dreamy, frenetic, calm, and chaotic all at once, and we appreciate the boldness it takes to make something so artistically unbounded.
2025 has been the year of paer! “Power Lines” is the third in a trio of releases to reach us here at Indie Underrated, and we are so glad it has! This song is an alt-pop journey. The scene is set early with atmospheric tones and dreamy vocals, but the song hardly stays in one place. It wanders around the stereo space with sonic curiosity. This is something we’ve loved about all paer releases: as we listen, we feel like we’re witnessing the artists discover the hearts of the songs. We recommend it for fans of Wye Oak.
Tame Impala meets Donna Summer? This is what we hear in “Can You Feel the Love” by Curley. It’s an atmospheric alternative dance song that’s as dedicated to hooky melodies as it is to danceable grooves. Perhaps its most surprising element, though, is its incorporation of ripping guitar solos. Is that a little Prince we hear in there? We could go on all day listing influences, but instead we’ll say: it’s pop, it’s disco, it’s indie rock; it’s Curley.
Check out this patient new indie rock single by SKORTS! “Lace” starts with simple percussion and repetitive guitar riffs behind a series of catchy vocal melodies. As it progresses, though, it becomes increasingly layered and complex in pursuit of its climactic outro. Listen to those harmonies! We think this one is a sure thing for fans of artists like Mannequin Pussy and/or Wolf Alice.
