Check out this dreamy new indie pop single by Coral Head! “Walking By” is a song that realizes the artistic potential of repetition. Some of these resonant piano melodies sound unceasing, but they never get old because of the song’s dynamic balancing of noise and quiet. The vocals are catchy. The groove is steady. And the overall experience is captivating. We recommend it for fans of artists like Warpaint and/or Blonde Redhead!
Get stranded with “Isle,” the hypnotic new indietronica single by Vilde! This song layers gentle vocals and frenetic percussion on top of moody atmospheric tones to achieve a dark and textural mood. We love vocals here at Indie Underrated, so when we say that these instrumental breaks are some of our favorite moments in this song it speaks to how interesting they really are. Fans of Night Tapes and Aphex Twin should love “Isle.”
Fans of Guided by Voices and The Growlers will love this grainy new indie rock single by Bee Bee Sea. “You” has everything you could want in a punk-inspired banger: uptempo percussion, thudding bass, loud guitars, catchy melodies, etc. All that and, in true punk fashion, it’s over in less than two minutes. If you dig it, we hear there’s a new Bee Bee Sea record on the horizon. Keep an eye out!
We love what we hear in this new indie pop single by BURNT FROZEN. “Rehab 2023 (feat. emmaroo),” is characterized by a spare-yet-effective instrumental arrangement complete with tight percussion and patient atmospheric tones. The verses sound minor and melancholic while the choruses sound major and whimsical, and this kind of structural whiplash makes for an especially interesting listen. Because of the catchy layered vocal melodies, we think this exists well in a category with music by artists like Big Thief and Clairo.
