“BROTHER,” the newest single by Jhon Allan, is true alt pop originality. We’re not even sure if “alt pop” is an appropriate label; it’d probably just be best to say that this is a song that defies labels. It’s characterized by swingy percussion, finger-picked guitars, gentle keys, and ambient tones. At first, it sounds folksy. But as the song progresses it gets increasingly more R&B. What’s consistent about it, though, is that it remains catchy and interesting throughout! We recommend it for fans of Radiohead and/or Blood Orange.

Ocean Lights continues its hot streak with the release of “Where Are We Now.” This indie pop single makes the most of a downtempo rhythm section: the bass is compelling and the drums are steady. We love to hear Ocean Lights doing what they do best with hooky melodies and clear vocals. But we also like to see them stretching their wings with these shoegazy instrumentals and sharp lyrics. This is a project that gets more exciting with every release!
Fans of artists like Holly Humberstone, Olivia Rodrigo, and Phoebe Bridgers should check out this new single by ABBIGAIL! “Relationship Killer” is the kind of indie pop song that tugs at a listener’s heart. Not only because of the lyrics, but also because of the music. The acoustic guitar is tender, the atmospheric tones are evocative, and the vocals are gorgeous. We love the way this song builds to a non-lyrical melody near the end; it’s as if the speaker has run out of words and sounds are all she has left to communicate her emotion.
