Indie Underrated – RIMENY, Estella Dawn, No Love For The Middle Child, Mo Troper

The RIMENY hot streak continues with the release of a new EP titled World as Myth. One of our favorite songs from the project is called “I Can’t Talk to My Friends.” It has that classic indie pop brightness that has previously drawn comparisons to The 1975. What we love most about this one, though, is the dynamic percussive work: it’s spontaneous and active, but it never loses its steadiness. Overall, the tune sounds clean and exact. (Stick around for the sax outro!)

We love what we hear in this new alt pop single by Estella Dawn. “Reckless” is, above all, a wildly impressive display of vocal ability. Dawn’s lead is flexible-yet-strong, and the soulful background layers give support in a way that reminds us of artists like Dermot Kennedy. Instrumentally, the song sets itself up to be downtempo but then finds a fitting, upbeat groove. For this reason, we’d recommend it to fans of artists like Miley Cyrus.

Fans of artists like mgk, YUNGLBUD, and blackbear will love this new single by No Love For The Middle Child. “Broken Wings” starts with a soft and atmospheric chorus but flourishes to a fuller arrangement complete with loud drums and powerful vocals. It has some folksy flair and some emo flair, making it a unique and inspired piece of melancholic rock.

Check out this intuitive new single by Mo Troper. “When She Says My Name” is playful, indie rock sophistication. The instrumental arrangement is unrestrained and the progression and melodies are unpredictable. We think fans of artists like The Beatles and Elliott Smith will appreciate the artistry, and Queen fans will love that regal guitar solo around the 1:20 mark.
