From The Real Blue, we were absolutely encapsulated by the atmosphere created by their new single, Psycho. The soft piano melodies combined with the gentle drum track create a hauntingly serene lo-fi, indie pop soundscape. The vocals, edited to create an electronic effect, still have an organic feel to them, due to the fuzzy effect of the song’s recording style. This track is the gateway for a calm, satisfying vibe, allowing you to lean into its relaxing tones. Check out this single and the 5 other tracks featured along side it on their new EP, Goodbye Gravity.
Shifting to a higher energy, we loved Living Hour‘s newest single, Wheel. The indie-rock sound it focuses on is reminiscent of artists like Alex G and Broken Social Scene. The vocals are easy to appreciate, as the unique tone strikes you with its raw poetic nature, brought through the vocalist’s upper register and slight rasp. The performance on the electric guitar brings the song’s excitement, pushing through the layers with unrestrained energy. Based in Winnipeg, CA, this band is bringing on their fourth album release, with this single’s early release in anticipation.
For a more pop-vibe, we highly recommend Unclepat’s newest single, Rude. This infectious tune is paired with an equally as mesmerizing music video. The electric guitar riffs are hauntingly catchy, and with the support of the bass guitar lines and fluid drum beats, this instrumental feels well-rounded. It accompanies the sweet, emotionally strong vocals, which are further enhanced with reverb effects and expressive harmonies. Unclepat sprinkles in dissonance throughout the song’s melodies, amplifying the theme of the song. This single is to be featured on his debut album, Pool Party, coming out in September.
