Indie pop artist Channo is back with his latest single release, “Carabina,” an intimate and vibey sonic experience that fits perfectly on your summer playlist. We love the vocals in this tune. They are completely relaxed, hitting notes with seemingly no effort whatsoever. Harmonies are on point throughout the tune, acoustic guitar and rhythm key parts are held tightly in the pocket, and the percussion is perfectly executed, each element serving the song in a masterfully produced manner. Fans of Djo and the Marias will instantly connect with this mellowed-out indie pop style.

Channo’s next album, Shades of the Midnight Sun, will be released on June 10. Be on the lookout for this emerging and massively talented artist, we look forward to hearing more next month.

Up next is Halfcut with their debut single release, “Sunshine.” This tune is classic indie pop/rock. We hear a mix of classic indie instrumentation with more modernized studio techniques and layering of tracks, creating and maintaining ethereal soundscapes throughout the duration of the song. We love the vocal work here as well. Raw emotion and authenticity bleed right through the masterful production, showcasing a promising future for this up and coming band.

Halfcut reminds us of modern indie sensations like the Backseat Lovers and Peach Pit, both embracing their influence and bringing their own sound to the scene. If you are looking for a new band that is bound to make waves in the indie pop/rock scene, give them a shot.

Gabriel Comba instantly caught our attention with his latest single, “Sunrae,” a melancholic, atmospheric journey that tugs at our heartstrings. It begins with an eerie conglomeration of atonal sounds that melt together into a set of droning tones that carry on throughout the song. The absence of traditional percussive elements allows the vocal to breathe and playfully interact with these droning swells of sound. We love the use of studio effects here; vocal layering and interesting harmonies contribute to the emotional allure that this tune exerts.

Fans of dreamwave music will instantly connect with this vibe, as well as those who enjoy the experimental side of indie pop. The song reminds us of groups like Memory Tapes and Portishead, exemplified by their dreamy soundscapes and intimate vocal style. We look forward to hearing more from them in the future.

David Morin is infectious with his recent single, “Foolish,” a fresh indie pop tune that bridges the gap between old school disco influences and modern studio techniques. This song showcases a side of indie pop that prides itself on groove and feeling over anything else. The pocket is tight, and the vocals dancing around the pocket are on point. We also love the use of horns and keys as transitional elements throughout sections in this one, both inventive decisions under the scope of indie/alt pop.

David’s music is reminiscent of artists like Frank Ocean and Steve Lacy, retaining that groovy pocket feel in an indie/alt pop format bound for the charts. We highly recommend checking him out, and we look forward to his future in the music industry.
