In anticipation of their upcoming project 3, boywithahalo has released an indie-rock slacker anthem in “money machine.” This song thrives within its uses of repetition. A circular, unceasing, fuzzy guitar progression kicks the song off and invites us into a dreamy rock loop that develops instrumentally from beginning to end. When the song ventures into unfamiliar territory, it always makes sure to find a way back to the catchy chorus that keeps it grounded. This makes for an especially gripping and satisfying listen overall. We hear a little Phoebe Bridgers influence in the chorus melody, but more of a shoegaze flair in the instruments.

april june is at it again with the release of their newest single “submissive”! This dream-pop tune is characterized by a steady percussive track, atmospheric synth tones, and ethereally resonant vocal layers. The instrumental elements work to support a series of lighthearted melodies and lyrics that tell the story of a speaker whose infatuations leave her or him willing to make personal sacrifices in order to please a lover. On Spotify, april june describes their music as “music to dance & cry to.” This song is undeniably danceable, and the hopelessly-in-love lyrical composition definitely has the potential to elicit the emotional attention of listeners. We love when a song can do this; make us feel and think at the same time.

Meet Me at the Bottom of the Pool,” the fourth single from up-and-coming indie-pop artist Archi, is an audible vacation. This song’s groovy rhythm, bright vocals, and clean guitar tones compel listeners to forget their troubles and, for a moment, dive into a more leisurely headspace. The chorus is especially refreshing with its catchy melody and summery imagery. And we think this one is a sure thing for fans of groups like Foster the People and/or MGMT.
