The self-described “apartment rock” duo Cruise Awayy have released a new single called “Sun In My Eyes”, a vintage-inspired ballad with a healthy dose of The War on Drugs vibes. A combination of lush synthesizers evoke a nod to the 80s. The mellow guitars and laid back vocal stylings are nice slice of dream pop, with perhaps a sprinkling of the aptly named “yacht rock”.

Haunted”, the newest release from Ben Goldsmith, certainly lives up to it’s title. Set to a heavy 3/4 bluesy groove, the blue-eyed soul ballad delivers an emotional vocal performance from a delicate serenade to vocal cord shredding howls. Beautifully accented by backing vocals that provide an ethereal quality. Overall this song plays like a response to the folk classic “I Put A Spell On You”.

The Casey Smith Project single “Hold On” hits like a burst of warm desert air blowing in your face, despite the fact that the band hails from Alaska. With an analog like warmth, the smooth drums carry a swampy groove amidst a backdrop of etherial guitars, Mellotrons, pedal steels, and confessional vocals carried out with a stern vulnerability.
