“A slight nod to 80s pop, the buzzsaw synthesizers and chorus-laden guitars give a chill atmosphere while the rhythm section gives the song a steady, driving feel…“
Here at Indie Underrated we occasionally go beyond the fringes to bring you something completely different. “No Talking On The Dancefloor”, the new single from Tasheff falls into that category, and is everything you’d hope for in a Brooklyn hipster house-party dance anthem. With satirical, yet poignant lyrics and a repetitive, infectious groove, this song will certainly peak curiosities and appease twitching feet. Cannot fail to mention the song’s striking resemblance to one of YouTube’s first viral videos, “Shoes” (Oh my god, shoes).
Kylie Rothfield has released another fantastic track, this time with the song “Temporary”. Her eloquent, dreamy vocals drift effortlessly over a War on Drugs styled groove, stockpiled with a myriad of guitar tones, ranging from clean to dirty and plenty of infectious melodies to keep you hooked throughout.
Even if you are not a bilingual speaker, “Aeropuerto” the latest from Puerto Rico’s Dogos will get you up and moving, singing along to the highly addictive chorus melody. A slight nod to 80s pop, the buzzsaw synthesizers and chorus-laden guitars give a chill atmosphere while the rhythm section gives the song a steady, driving feel. The music video has some slight “Pineapple Express” vibes, chronicling the journey of being picked up from the airport.
South African singer/songwriter Lee Cole’s new single “Ice=cream” is an R&B infused powerhouse, blending retro sounds and Cole’s South African roots. His voice definitely pulls inspiration from the likes of Hozier, embodying a similar purse-lipped singing style that’s all the rage right now. Throwing in some pitched vocal harmonies for good measure. The chorus melody is catchy as hell, and the “Stranger Things-like” synth intro draws you in until the last note. See Mr. Cole on the road with Sir Robbie Williams this summer.
