It’s hard to resist the hypnotic and alluring melodies heard in “bae” the new single from Minnesota-based artist Eleanor:D. The beat is simple, sparse, yet highly effective and gives the song the necessary punch often overlooked by similar artists. Her voice is charismatic and holds a subtle naiveté behind the confidence. Echoing the styles of artists like Rihanna or Lorde, with a wicked vibrato, the melodies and hooks are absolute ear-worms and will undoubtedly have you unexpectedly humming them after listening.

Dig the sultry, lo-fi, dreamy sounds of “Not Yet” from Pon Far. The NY trio had humble beginnings amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, sending song ideas digitally, eventually coming together for a proper EP release. With vocals reminiscent of Norah Jones, the track is also steeped in retro-flavored sounds, ranging from 70s era bongos to a well-placed saxophone that sings urban vibes. The band also does a solid cover of Al Green’s “Tired of Being Alone”, definitely worth checking out.

“Balloons” represents the collaboration between Polish artist Bart Derylo and Swiss Eurovision finalists Gjon’s Tears. The cinematic vibes are pleasantly balanced by the danceable qualities, resulting in an anthemic house banger that maintains an incredibly infectious chorus melody. Reminiscent of artists like Sam Smith and Diplo, this song could quite easily be used for a video montage (a la “Rocky”), but is well suited for virtually any kind of dance party. Also, the accompanying music video has some incredible nature visuals.
