Mila DeGray-Masculine Charm

Fans of Clairo’s new record will love Mila DeGray’s new single Masculine Charm. The new single from the singer-songwriter, who recently made an appearance in the music video for Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s “Guess” remix. Mila’s vocals demonstrate an exposed vulnerability as she sings about a lover who may not be all the way in as much as she is. The dynamics of the instrumental range from minimal and hushed, to a raucous, upbeat indie rock featuring crunchy guitar power chords and a drum beat that feels almost double timed. Fans of Faye Webster will love the gentle, almost lo-fi instrumental and heartfelt vocals.

Rufus Joseph-Dance with Darkness

Rufus Joseph’s new single continues our selection today with an atmospheric, left field folk sound. The singer-songwriter delivers another haunting yet healing ballad that lets his husky baritone vocal shine. Gentle piano combines with lilted synth flute and ambient textures for a feel that recalls the pop songwriting of Coldplay with the electronic aura of James Blake and Bon Iver.

Retrograded-Rhodes (I Don’t Bite)

The final track in our selection is a true throwback jam, with Retrograded’s new single Rhodes (I Don’t Bite). Delivering a Beatlesesque sound, Retrograded’s soulful vocal combines with the titular Rhodes piano and light acoustic guitars. The track is a chilled soft rock track that brings the sound of 70s bands like ELO and Todd Rundgren’s early work into the modern day.
