Jules Ahoi-Old Master’s House

Jules Ahoi’s new song is a real heartbreaker. The German singer songwriter’s new track, from his upcoming album “MAGNOLIA (The Bauhaus Tapes), is a beautiful indie folk song that emphasizes Jule’s deep baritone vocals. The most obvious influence one can gleam from Jules’ music is Bon Iver, with strummed acoustic guitars that are juxtaposed against bleeping synthesizers for a unique musical experience. One particular highlight in the song’s production is the string section that swells for a nice lift in the song’s energy as the chorus comes. Jules’ new album comes out in September, and if it’s anything like this track, it’ll surely be an enjoyable listen.

OK Cowgirl-Forever

Our last pick is a favorite of ours, OK Cowgirl. We previously covered the NYC indie rock staple’s previous single, “Little Splinters” last month, and this song carries on the previous single’s melancholic and introspective themes. The instrumental has an indie ballad sound, with soft, plucked electric guitars that compliment lead singer Leah’s vocals. The themes of turmoil and conflict surround this track, with lyrics that paint the inner confusion around falling out of love. Fans of artists like Maggie Rogers and Mitski will love this song.
