Pjos-Atlas

Pjos’ new single, Atlas, is an atmospheric, ambient indie pop track perfect for relaxing to. The Polish band has really out done themselves with this song, a chill ballad that explores themes of trauma and escapism as a means to cope. The vocals feel almost like a texture in the background, with reverb effects that feel as if you’re being transported to outer space. The instrumental is gorgeous, with guitars that fill the entire mix and washed out drums reminiscent of the Cocteau Twins. Pjos’ music should be on the radar for fans of acts like Beach House and Sigur Ros.

Emma and the Fragments-Transparent Skin

For something a bit more uptempo, Emma and the Fragments has one doozy of a new single. This track, recorded by the East London-based band, the musical chemistry that the band shares, through husband and wife Emma on lead vocals and Jon on drums, is more than apparent. The band pulls influences from many genres including rock, punk and indie pop, with a new wave influence on this track that recalls acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Black Keys. Emma’s vocals are a real highlight on the track, with a rich alto that makes the melody all the more memorable.

Alone-Ends in Summer

The last track we’ll be covering is a minimalist, slow piece of dream pop from Ukrainian band Alone. This track is a meditative, trippy song that will be sure to please. Alone’s vocals are a deep baritone with lots of effects processing that results in a very cool sound. The track is built up with layers and layers of guitars that call to mind Cigarettes After Sex or Alex G.
