We caught up with the multi-dimensional influencer last week, and we weren’t surprise to hear that for Romi it’s all about empowering others, and embracing the community that adores her. The looks might get them there, but Romi isn’t afraid to use this attention to spread the happy.

IU: We were really impressed with your new single In The Morning.  What was your inspiration for this song?

Romi Chase: ‘In the Morning’ is kind of like this musical diary of love, betrayal and karma. Everyone is obsessed with picture perfect relationship stories but the truth is, we’ve all experienced relationships full of extreme highs but also extreme lows. Nobody talks about it. It’s usually either an over the top euphoric love song or a break up song talking about nothing but the hurt. No in between. However, most of us experience both feelings at the same time though so I wanted to highlight the truth behind all this. 

IU: When did you start singing and who are your influences?

I’d been singing since I was practically a toddler. I quit when my parents passed away in 2008 and I got adopted into foster care. Nobody wanted to invest in my craft anymore and being a rebellious teenager surely didn’t help so I gave up on my passion. It wasn’t until 2022 when I finally found myself in the position to pursue my dreams again. That’s when I went back to singing and making music. I grew up listening to artists like Tina Turner but also lots of RnB, Pop and Rock. I don’t like to put myself in a box for a specific genre. I’d say my music is a hybrid between RnB, Soul, Pop and Country Rock. 

As both an influencer and an adult content creator, how do you balance your time and where does music fit in?  Is it more of an experiment or are you hoping to make it your main thing?

Oh, it definitely isn’t easy. I try to follow a schedule which helps balance everything out. I work long hours, 7 days a week but that’s just the price of doing what you love and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love being an independent creator and an independent artist in full control of what I’m doing, who I’m working with and what I give my energy too. I definitely want to turn music into a full time career but I also love connecting with fans through adult content. There is a way to do both and that’s what I’m currently focusing on. Let’s break the stigmas! 

Are you working with producers or songwriters, or do you create everything yourself?

Yes. I’m fortunate enough to have a wonderful team beside me. My manager is always presenting new opportunities. My producers continue to help develop my sound. My photographer is always there to capture all the great moments. Everyone has a role. There’s undeniable power in team work. Life is one big collaboration. It’s all about connections and networking no matter what industry you’re in. 

What can we expect next from this project?

We’re currently working on multiple projects, new music and live shows are just a couple of them. Apart from that, I’m hoping for more people to discover my music. I want to build a strong community where we can all help each other grow and inspire each other to chase our dreams! I’m a dream chaser after all. And so are my fans!
