indie underrated

Everything is not how it seems on Ulysses, the vibrant new single from Dan Miraldi.  Channeling the challenges of life on the road and its unexpected collateral strife, Miraldi pens an ode to the insufferable rock and roll castaway.  “I didn’t know you didn’t miss me, as I tried so hard to tell you that you were everything to me.”  The sentiment stings like someone who knows the faded splendor of touring life’s cruel reality.  The people you live behind, your absence doesn’t tend to grow their love fonder.  

The jam is full of cool kid charm and nostalgic brilliance.  The smart punk swagger recalls the writing of Gaslight Anthem with a classic feel akin to The Replacements, Billy Idol, and even The Rolling Stones.  Like them Miraldi is convincing, with an impassioned performance that speaks to his road warrior status.  It reflects an artist who knows that each town demands a little extra if you want to stand out.  He’s definitely got our attention. Miraldi is the real deal.
