Ackerman caught our attention with their new single Lost. 

Elements of post punk collide with the legacy of contemporary poets like Leonard Cohen or underground hero Nick Cave.  There’s a retro sensibility that cites 80s alternative in a way that amplifies its ability to remain timeless. 

Akerman is entirely convincing as a singer, with an inspired performance that slightly recalls the impact of Neil Diamond or Bruce Cockburn.  As if the classic crooners fronted The Cure or The Smiths.  It’s an apt comparison, as the piano part effectively recalls the simple charm of the Cure’s own arrangements.  Check it out
