When it comes to insanely catchy under the radar indie pop we found a champion in Luciano Thomas and his project Blonds.  To add to the charm the artist waivers between music and his other passion, oil painting.  That aesthetic dynamic adds to the allure of his new EP If It’s Not Broken.  Highlights include the imaginative catchy brilliance of the lead single Islands.  This is smart songwriting that connects with the underground while still offering the artist radio potential.  Anchored by his impressive singing ability and a strong studio effort, Islands truly stands out.

Blonds – Islands

The artist does his own mixing and mastering, it’s another strength to the project as a whole.  It lends itself to the intrigue of arrangements like the introspective Always.  Featuring cello and the magnetic contrast of an infectious groove, Blonds reiterates a duality between a sentimental composition and his initiative to make you move.  In that way we hear similarities to Rhye or Andrew Bird with a heavier presence of commercial pop.  That’s an interesting blend we don’t offer lightly.  Hear for yourself.
