We’re so excited about Significance, the new album from revived Rock project Blueburst. REM and The Replacements get a proper indie update on this expansive release. Significance flaunts the artists reverence for 80s alternative, and offers a brighter polished mix within this vibe.
Songs like Kick My Tires and and Executioner’s Song amplify the reference. Blueburst effectively channels the vibe while compositionally finding a lane all his own. There’s a subtle indie sensibility to his writing, a baked influence of Queens of the Stone Age or Interpol. But Blueburst never fully commits to his modern inclinations, even offering an adapted cover of Train In Vein to assert his intention.

Songwriter Craig Douglas Miller enlists some notable colleagues to help bring his works and vision to live. The sound is a partially a testament to collaboraters Marty Willson-Piper (The Chuch, Noctorum, The Saints), Michael Jerome (pop poppins, Better Than Ezra, Richard Thompson), and more. It’s no wonder the authenticity shines, as it reflects their own iconic contributions. Miller shows there’s still uncovered room to roam within this vibe. Significance is killer front to back, give the whole album a proper spin.
