Otis Shanty pulled us in with a seductive groove on the onset of their new single Inch Away. It’s an effective setup for the elegant vocal contributions offered by the singles featured singer Sadye Bobbette. She brings an indie pop sensiblity into this classic Fleetwood Mac style jive. Lead guitarist Ryan DiLello channels an influence of the War On Drugs and Kurt Vile with some tasteful Gilmour bred sparse playing.
The group manages to inject some jamming without disqualifying them from an indie designation. It’s a testament to the songs minimalistic arrangement and the singers delectable tone. The band honors her talent with a minimalistic arrangement that makes lets her have some limelight. That attribute will lend itself well to the quality of their recordings, but there’s enough flash here to suggest their ability to adapt and flesh these songs out live. Inch Away is a highlight from their new four song EP Early Birds.
