Lonely Gimmick doesn’t mince words on his new single Roll Me Over. The raw honest lyrical appeal adds to the intrigue. As the intro develops it collides with a snappy infectious arrangement. We hear infectious elements known to 80s alternative acts like The Smiths and the Clash updated with some of the modern indie sensibility known to Vampire Weekend. The lead guitar and synth ideas sparkle and illuminate the melodic atmosphere. The vocal adds doses of catchy flash and trademark rapid percussive flair.
The artist admits that this work represents a new process of originating from lyrics rather than music. He amplifies that detail with a poetic spoken word outro. He also admiringly embraces King Krule and Arctic Monkeys as lending to the songs influential place marks. For us it’s a surefire indie hit where the blend stands unique and offers interest from a wide scope of listeners in the scene. It’s catchy with a clever retro twist. We love it.
