Knowing the commonality of his namesake Nate Smith releases music under his moniker Saint Pacific. His recent single Blue includes an imaginative short movie that adds complex emotional layers beyond the music. The song itself is elegant indie rock. We hear an influence of cherished classics like Neil Young and Pink Floyd to match modern indie instincts known to The Weather Station.
Like these aforementioned icons Blue evolves epic, culminating in a passionate ascent to Smith’s vocal performance. The video accentuates the complicated moody nature, one that toils between multiple worldly prisons. Temptation, chemical respite, and a tattered past. In its final moments you can’t help but feel some compassion for the man. It’s glorious dark twisted entertainment, challenging your perception if it’s pleasure or pain.
