John Leslie is classic poetic on his new single The History Of Sugar.  A romantic tribute unheard in modern times, Leslie injects references to an influence of jazz in the form of latin rhythms and a rare wind instrument. The brass adds color and stylistic flair to the collective design, reigning exotic within the contrast of rock.

This blend recalls some of the mid career efforts by The Eagles and Yacht Rock style reference.  It’s a dynamic arrangement that pulls from multiple musical cultures and blends them with Americana.  Collaborating once again with ARIA Hall of Fame inductee and long time associate of iconic band, ‘The Church’ Peter Koppes, has brought a sophistication to Leslie’s already exceptional music, elevating it to new heights of artistry and emotional depth.  Koppes lends his own stylistic legacy to Leslie’s own chic mysterious essence.   We can dig it.
