Meghan Pulles’ new single is a true contender for song of the summer. The Nashville based artist has continued to pave the way with her emo-inspired pop sound that has touched fans across the globe. This track is the lead single to her new album “ear baby”, which is coming out soon. This track covers the wounds of parental abandonment and how it can affect a child growing up. Meghan delivers this beautifully, with an intro that shows her delivering a voicemail to a parent who never seems to respond. Her vocal is sweet and emotional, with a tone and delivery akin to someone like Kate Bush or Bjork.

The instrumental is a tender, haunting ballad that gradually progresses over the course of the almost 8 minute track. The instrumental begins with primarily lightly strummed acoustic guitars, piano lines and brushed drums. The groove picks up around the middle of the song, with some strings and hammond organ filling in the space. The song is very trippy feeling with a wide array of genres it pulls from. Around the 5 minute mark of the song, a Pink Floyd esque electric guitar solo really brings the song home. Fans of more experimental and eclectic artists like Yves Tumor and Phoebe Bridgers will really love this track.
