Fans of dream pop will love Courtney Nord’s new track Wasteland. The track comes from the LA based singer-songwriter’s new EP of the same name, and features alt rock artist Shydez. This track has a angsty, moody feel to it that is emphasized by the vocals. Courtney has a breathy, light vocal that recalls some of the “sad girl” singers of the 2010s like Lana Del Rey and Melanie Martinez.
The production is a standard dark pop arrangement typical of what’s heard on the radio these days, with an infectious, colorful arrangement. The track has a wide array of influences, with a booming trap drum part that gives the track a rhythmic boost. Metal guitar shredding, which likely comes from Shydez, punctuates the arrangement and gives an extra melody to the song.
