Buckwise-Older
Buckwise have really delivered with their new single, Older. This lush, ambient ballad is an absolute tear jerker. It is a unique take on the kind of post rock that alternative bands like Radiohead pioneered. The track is built on a foundation of strings that play a sustained chord progression, with piano notes plunking out a melody and washes of electric guitar populating the arrangement. The lead vocals feel almost like an extra instrumental part, with heaps of reverb and distortion that really contribute to the vibe of the song.

Tom Webber-Howling at the Moon

Tom Webber’s new single Howling at the Moon has really caught our attention. The song is a fast paced folk rock track that has plenty of retro sensibilities. Tom’s voice has a classic twang to it that you won’t find in much indie these days, with a vocal style that recalls the work of Bob Dylan. The arrangement is upbeat, with a guitar part that chugs along and a brushed drum beat. The bridge in particular stands out with a subdued drum part and a chord progression that modulates keys. The song is a fun jam that is sure to elevate your mood.

The Memory of Snow-No Safe Place

Our last post comes from The Memory of Snow who have just put out their new single, No Safe Place. This song is an 80s influenced track with an aggressive synth arpeggio. The song has half sung, half rapped vocals that were typical of the new wave era. Parallels can be drawn to the work of Pet Shop Boys and Talking Heads. This song adds a new spin to the synth heavy indietronica that is taking over the indie scene these days. It’s perfect for a late night drive.
