If Ethan Senger’s new track, Standing Still, isn’t on your radar, you’re really missing out! The title track off his sophomore EP, Ethan delivers with stellar musicianship and a sensitive voice that shines through in this track. Ethan tells a story of the stagnancy people feel due to their constant fear of failure, as well as how childhood trauma translates into the inability to navigate adult relationships. In the post-pandemic era of people readjusting to life, these themes definitely will be sure to resonate with listeners.

The track is subdued and acoustic in nature, with arpeggiated acoustic guitars dominating the mix. Towards the chorus, a reverb heavy piano adds some low end to the chorus to contribute to the ambient vibe. A piano part on the bridge gives a gorgeous, minimalistic melody to add more anticipation to the heavier final chorus. Artists like Deftones and The XX are the most obvious parallels in terms of the general vibe of the track.
