Jonny Ong’s new song, A Moment of Sunshine, is a serious contender for song of the summer. The latest track from the London based singer songwriter is a classic rock throwback that has a fun, summery feel to it. Jonny’s vocals give the track a truly unique touch, with a vocal sound that recalls the classic singers like George Harrison and Elton John. This track is sure to be a fun jam to listen to on the way to the beach and driving with friends.

The arrangement and production are fun and retro inspired. Recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios, the arrangement draws influence from many of the historic acts that recorded there, like the Beatles and ELO. Plodding piano, groovy drums and a soulful horn section, played by the Haxton horns, form the basis of the song. Gospel organ, played by Andy Wallace, enter the fold around the chorus, and a guitar solo enters the bridge. The track blends the soulful sensibility of Motown with the carefree attitude of much of the 60s and 70s pop rock Ong draws influence from.
