If you haven’t checked out Ben Hutcheson’s new single, Need You Tonight, you’re missing out! The West London based country artist has come swinging out the gate with his first full length project, which came out July 28th, after releasing his first 2 EPs completely independently. Hutcheson delivers a heart wrenching ballad that communicates a yearning for the person he loves, with a deep soulful baritone. His experience playing for acts like Natalie Imbruglia, Van Morrison and more has clearly paid off with his virtuosic vocal performance.
The arrangement primarily consists of layers of soft, fluttery piano parts that give the track an intimate, romantic feel. Guitars gradually enter the mix, with harmonic taps peppering the mix for an added sense of melodics. Gorgeous guitar strums fill out the track in the chorus to give the production a sense of ambience. Artists like Bon Iver, Ed Sheeran and the more contemporary pop work of James Blake immediately come to mind in terms of spans of influence.
