Pheelynx has really caught our attention with her new single, Can’t Get Away. The track, a chugging pop punk banger, fits right in with the revival of alternative and emo music in the mainstream. Pheelynx’s vocals are angsty and affected, fitting with the theme of the song well. The lyrics portray Pheelynx as confronting the person who treated her so poorly and calling them out for their cowardice. This track is perfect for those who have felt slighted or hurt by but haven’t received any sort of sincere remorse from who hurt them.

The production features a raw and gritty feel to it that emphasizes the frustration in the lyrics well. The drums are blaring and rapid fire and the guitars roar and squeak out underneath of Pheelynx’s vocals. Fans of more modern pop punk acts like Paramore and Muneskin will appreciate this song especially, with hints of 80s post punk by bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure showing through.
