Gal Musette-Into the Blue
If Gal Musette’s new single, Into the Blue, isn’t on your radar, you’re missing out! The third single from Gal’s upcoming album, Pendulum, the song is an ambient pop track with elements of doo pop in the production. Gal’s vocals soar over top of the gorgeous production, with a hushed, pure quality that sells the throwback tune to the song. The best way this song can be described as is if Amy Winehouse were still recording in 2023, with a “Wall of Sound” style arrangement and theremin/violin playing by Via Mardot. Fans of Lana Del Rey and beebadoobee will surely find a place for this in their rotation.

Alex Nicol-Hollywood

Our final song of this post is from Alex Nicol, with his new single, Hollywood. The song, an introspective cut from Nicol’s new EP “Been a Long Year Vol 1” is a track about Nicol’s struggles to make it in the music industry. Nicol wrestles with his conflicting desires for greater success in an uncertain field while trying to be grateful for the current progress he has made. The song is a slow, psychedelic ballad with elements of country to it that really decay the desperation in the lyrics. Nicol’s vocals are eerie and deep with a tone that sounds like its been affected by loads of reverb. Rumbling piano chords and slide guitar convey the sadness in the song, which will resonate with anybody who’s ever had a dream they still hold onto and is in need of some hope.
