LLO LLO’s new single, Rory, is one you won’t wanna miss. The Chicago based power pop band, feat Grant Goode on bass, Dominic Folino on drums, Johnny Cummings and Shane Morris on vocals and guitar, have been playing together since 2021, coming together over the love of 90s DIY lofi rock during the pandemic. The 90s influence is especially prominent on this song, with vocals that recall the relaxed vocal style of indie from that period.
The instrumental is a sparse, new wave esque jam with fast paced drums, jangly guitars and driving bass. The gorgeous arrangement blends the synthetic 80s sheen of artists like the Police with the 90s alt pop of bands like Oasis. Songs in particular that can be drawn as comparisons to this track are The Cure’s standout hit “Friday I’m in Love” and Prince’s classic deep cut “When You Were Mine”. This song is perfect for a late night drive with friends or having as the soundtrack for a summer bonfire.
