Wild Lyre-Shelter
Wild Lyre’s really caught our attention with their debut single, Shelter. Shelter is the first of several singles that the band has released this summer, with many more to come. The track is a fast paced tune that combines classic rock n roll and garage rock with the lofi sensibilities of modern indie. The vocals are warm with a slight amount of distortion on the track. The vocals provide a carefree and rebellious atmosphere to the track with a sound reminiscent of Julian Casablancas. The production is a blend of acts like The Byrds and the electric sound of Bob Dylan with the modern production of acts like Arctic Monkeys.

The Library is on Fire-Back Pocket and Hotel Yugoslavia

The next act we’ll be covering, The Library is on Fire, has really delivered with these two tracks, the first of which being Back Pocket. The first single for the group after 10 years of taking a hiatus from releasing music, the track features Mike Watt of Stooges fame and is a fuzzed out alternative rock banger. The production features incredibly blown out guitars that give the track a 90s feel. The vocals are almost unintelligible and add to the vibe of the track well. Fans of Deftones could easily find a place for this track in their rotation.
The second of the two tracks by The Library is On Fire, Hotel Yugoslavia, is a fascinating experimental piece. The track has a wide variety of sonics, with the synthesizer in the intro being especially eclectic. The track then expands into a jazzy, almost prog-esque indie jam reminiscent of bands like King Gizzard.

LB Beistad-Why Don’t We Go West

Fans of Phoebe Bridgers will really enjoy LB Beistad’s new single, Why Don’t We Go West. The up and coming Nashville based artist’s new single, produced by Jared Corder of *repeat repeat fame, is a lush, angsty ballad in the vein of 90s female singer songwriters like Alanis Morrissette. LB’s vocals are a beautiful alto that sings a melancholic tune about heartbreak over the grunge production. The track features folk acoustic guitars that are washed out by electric guitars that draw to mind bands like the Neighborhood.
