Abby Dormer-Sylvia
We can’t stop listening to Abby Dormer’s new single Sylvia. This gorgeous, retro inspired pop number, which opens her new EP, pays tribute to female writers of the past that express pain in their writing. Dormer’s vocals have an expressive, rich alto quality to them that bring to mind the vocals of Joni Mitchell.
The instrumental takes influence from the music of the 60s and 70s. This stylistic choice manifests in the use of a Motown esque backbeat, bright Beach boys-esque guitars and jangly, almost folk sounding guitars. The backbeat is augmented by incredibly light, shuffled percussion that comes from household objects like paperclips, a book falling and jenga blocks.

SHAH BLAH-I DONT WANT TO
The production features a lightning fast backbeat and guitars that blend between psychedelic, ska and punk. The vibe of this track calls back to 2000s garage and psychedelic bands like The Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala and the White Stripes.

Lucifer Sunshine-Get High

Lucifer Sunshine’s new single Get High hasn’t left our rotation. This track is a light, jovial pop tune from the Swedish baroque pop act’s new album, Music for the Mind and Body. This track is a fun uplifting track featuring juvenile vocals and a classic sounding melody, especially in the chorus.
The production is clean, warm and soft, with a timbre that sounds like summer. Guitars are mostly clean, drums are simple and subdued and the production is complimented with classic choices such as slide guitar, vocal stacks reminiscent of The Beach Boys, and organ. This song is very reminiscent of the work Lana Del Rey did with Jack Antonoff on Norman F***ing Rockwell, as well as the music of The Cranberries.
