We can’t stop listening to Cliffs and caves’ new single, mint gum. The lead single from their new EP, Lost the Trail, this track features David Ramirez. Cliffs and Caves’ vocals tell a romantic, nostalgic story that puts the listener at ease. One can draw parallels in the vocals from Cliffs and Caves to the work of Carly Simon. David Ramirez’s vocals compliment the song well and contribute to the song’s positive energy. The tracks on this EP seek to foster human connection and extend empathy, especially on this song.

The music itself is a soft, folk inspired track with a fast tempo. The vocals are accompanied by icy, picked guitar leads, acoustic and rhythm electric guitars, ambient sound effects and synths, in an arrangement style that recalls the collaborations of Jack Antonoff with female pop artists like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. One highlight of the track is the absolutely raucous guitar solo, that glides through the arrangement with a bluesy, almost slide-like sound.
