Kendall Bowser’s new single, Got Away, has really caught our attention. The first single from her new EP, Sober Truth, the track is a mellow and somber ballad about heartbreak. The lyrics put a new spin on the idea of “the one that got away”, a concept that has been explored in media for ages; but from the perspective of the one that got away, that was pushed away by the subject of the track. Bowser expresses this pain in her vocals, that have a light, lilted feel to them.

The production is a moody, driving indie track that gives the song an upbeat feel, while still conveying the tone of the song. The guitars range from clean rhythm parts to crunchy driven guitars. Fans of artists like The Strokes and Paramore could easily fit this song in their playlists.
