Fake Your Own Death has really caught our attention with their new single, Bad Gods. Bad Gods is the lead single from the third EP by multinational project Fake Your Own Death. The track is a political anthem about the constant political and cultural division that seems to have been sown not only in the US but abroad. The lead vocals communicate the frustration and exhaustion with the news cycle well, with a distorted filter on the vocals that recall the baritone vocals of David Bowie.
The track is a groovy alt rock jam with crunchy, flanged guitars and a driving drum groove. The intro riff is a gorgeous spacey chordal riff that gives the track an especially vibey feel. Overall, the song thematically and musically is an update to the moody experimental rock of bands like Pink Floyd and Radiohead. The solo tone near the end of the track recalls the guitar work of David Gilmour and Robert Fripp.
