Fans of artists like Fleetwood Mac and Phoebe Bridgers will love the new single by Neve Bowen, Haunting Sound of Love. The third single by 19 year old singer-songwriter Neve Bowen, this track carries on the harrowing themes from her previous singles. Bowen taps into every facet of her soul in her tracks, having previously touched on themes of body dysmorphia and depression in her music. This track is about an abusive relationship and the loneliness that can result. Bowen’s vocals communicate this sadness well, with vocal stacks in the chorus that will give you goosebumps.
Supporting Bowen’s gorgeous vocals are acoustic guitars, that strum almost a dissonant chord in the main riff, almost creating a motif for the discordant nature of the relationship between the narrator and her partner. The track is minimalist in its arrangement, with little beyond the guitar and vocals. Bowen’s songwriting takes influence from songwriting style of artists like Florence and the Machine, with the experimentation and ability to translate emotions to song from artists like David Bowie and Kate Bush.
