Fans of Radiohead and The Beatles will love the atomic age’s new single, staring at the sun. The atomic age is a project helmed by indie musician/producer JJ Schrick. The song is a groovy slow track about the current negativity in the world today. Schrick touches on the political and cultural divisions facing the US and the world at large, touching specifically on how much bad news barrages us on a daily basis.
The production is an ambient, psychedelic track that comprises of drums, bass, sound effects and layers upon layers of guitars. The vocals on this track are full of spacey reverb and the guitars range from jangly, almost seasick sounding to raucous distorted soloing. The solo on this track almost sounds like an Indian sitar, giving this song a worldly edge to it. If you like bands like early Tame Impala, King Gizzard and Death Cab for Cutie, this is a track you definitely need to be on the look out for.
